CloudFix Feature
What CloudFix Won't Automate (And Why)
CloudFix automates high-confidence AWS fixes and stops short of production database changes and governance workflows. Here's why.
We don’t automate everything in your AWS account. That’s on purpose.
CloudFix runs 110+ finders and 53 automated fixers across 30+ AWS services, and most of what it finds, it fixes on its own: storage tier changes, instance rightsizing, discount coverage, idle resource cleanup. Clear risk, clear reward, no human needed in the loop.
Where the line is
Production database changes are out of scope for automatic action. The downside of getting one wrong outweighs the upside of getting it right, so CloudFix leaves it to you, with a recommendation attached.
CloudFix also doesn’t lint your Terraform, block a GP2 volume from being provisioned in the first place, or run multi-person approval workflows before acting. Infrastructure-as-code conflicts and limited repo access mean some of the more complex recommendations need your team’s eyes no matter how confident the finder is. For those, CloudFix can open a Jira or ServiceNow ticket so a human reviews it on your terms, instead of acting and asking forgiveness later.
Why we draw it there
A tool that claims to automate everything in an AWS account is making a promise it can’t keep safely. The risk profile of resizing an idle EBS volume is not the risk profile of touching a production database, and treating them the same is how automation earns a bad reputation.
The split is simple: high-confidence, reversible, low-blast-radius changes get applied automatically. Anything that touches production data, crosses a governance boundary your team owns, or needs context CloudFix doesn’t have, becomes a recommendation or a ticket instead of an automatic change.
If a cost optimization tool tells you it automates everything, ask what it’s not automating. The answer tells you more about its judgment than the list of things it does do.
